NEWS \ \  Downtown Las Vegas Access During Vegas Grand Prix: April 2 Through April 8

The streetscape of downtown Las Vegas is quickly being transformed in preparation for the Vegas Grand Prix taking place April 6 through 8.

The 2.44-mile race route encompasses sections of Bonneville Avenue, Main Street, Carson Avenue, First Street, Bridger Avenue, Casino Center Boulevard, Fourth Street, Ogden Avenue and Grand Central Parkway. A map is attached.

Road Information:

Starting Monday, April 2, after 7 p.m., traffic lane restrictions and closures will begin on some of the race route roadways. And by Wednesday, April 4, at approximately 9 p.m. all race road sections will be completely closed. Motorists should allow extra time to reach downtown destinations.

Roads Staying Open April 4 through April 8:

Interstate 15 through the downtown area will have no traffic lane restrictions. The Charleston Boulevard exit will be the primary access route into downtown and for Vegas Grand Prix events.

Interstate 515/U.S. Highway 93/95 through downtown will have no traffic lane restrictions. The Casino Center Boulevard and Las Vegas Boulevard exits are the primary access routes into downtown and for Vegas Grand Prix events.

Las Vegas Boulevard will remain open and is suggested for north-south travel. All north-south roadways that are east of Las Vegas Boulevard will also stay open.

Charleston Boulevard will remain open and is suggested for east-west travel.
Stewart Avenue will remain open for east-west travel from Main Street to Las Vegas Boulevard and to streets east of Las Vegas Boulevard.

Bonanza Road will remain open for through east-west travel.

Washington Avenue will remain open for through east-west travel.

Road Closures:

Monday, April 2, through Sunday, April 8

Bridger Avenue will be closed to traffic between Main Street and east of Third Street. Access to the Regional Justice Center at 200 Lewis Avenue will be limited to Las Vegas Boulevard and Clark Avenue. Access to the Clark County Public Parking Garage will be available via the entrances and exits on Casino Center Boulevard and First Street, as Bridger Avenue access to the garage will be closed.

North-South:

First Street: Closed from just south of Bridger Avenue through Ogden Avenue

Third Street: Closed south of Carson Avenue through Ogden

Wednesday, April 4, through Sunday, April 8

Bonneville Avenue/Alta Drive will be closed to traffic between Main Street and Martin L. King Boulevard. Access to the Clark County Government Center, Regional Transportation Commission, Regional Flood Control District and Las Vegas Premium Outlets will be maintained via Charleston Boulevard to Grand Central Parkway.

Fourth Street will be closed from south of Carson Avenue through Ogden Avenue. The city’s Development Services Center will be accessible via Fourth Street. The Fremont Street Experience parking structure will have a limited number of public spaces available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and these will be accessible via Las Vegas Boulevard to Carson Avenue, due to the Fourth Street closure. The city of Las Vegas parking structure that is located on Stewart Avenue between Las Vegas Boulevard and Fourth Street will be open, with access in and out via Las Vegas Boulevard and via temporary two-way access from Fourth Street. Las Vegas City Hall and the Downtown Transportation Center will be accessible by way of Stewart Avenue.

Grand Central Parkway will be closed from Bonneville Avenue to Main Street. As Grand Central Parkway turns into Ogden Avenue, the section of roadway that continues east to Fourth Street will also be closed. The Internal Revenue Service Building at 110 City Parkway will be accessible from Bonanza Road to F Street/City Parkway to Mesquite Avenue. Follow the detour signs along Mesquite to the IRS Building parking lot.

Friday, April 6, through Sunday, April 8

All roads along the race course will be closed during the day, Friday through Sunday. Local access to downtown properties located within the race route will be provided during the overnight hours between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. through gates at:

Main Street and Bonneville Avenue
Bridger Avenue and Casino Center Boulevard
Carson Avenue and Casino Center Boulevard
Ogden Avenue and First Street
Ogden Avenue and Casino Center Boulevard


Event Parking and Transit Information:

The Vegas Grand Prix is a 2.44-mile temporary street circuit held in downtown Las Vegas that encircles the heart of downtown. Race goers are encouraged to park in one of the free lots and take free transit to the race circuit. Free parking areas are first-come, first-serve.

Grandstand 1 and suite ticket holders are encouraged to park in the lot at the northwest corner of Martin L. King Boulevard and Alta Drive.
Driving directions: From West Charleston Boulevard, drive north on Martin L. King Boulevard to event parking.

FREE transit service is available from the Martin L. King Boulevard and Alta Drive lot to the World Market Center/ Paddock Area, or you may walk. RTC and private transit service will run daily Friday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

General admission ticket holders are encouraged to park at Cashman Field Center.
Driving directions: The upper level of Cashman Field Center, located at 850 North Las Vegas Boulevard, is accessible from I-515/U.S. Highway 93/95 by exiting at Las Vegas Boulevard and proceeding north.

FREE transit service is available from Cashman Field Center to the Fremont Street Experience, with stops at the stations below. Transit service runs daily Friday through Sunday from 5:30 a.m. to 3 a.m. Special downtown employee transportation will begin running on Thursday, April 5, with stops at the following locations:

Fremont Street and Las Vegas Boulevard
Third Street and Bridger Avenue
Main Street and Bonneville Avenue

FREE transit service is available from the Plaza Hotel and Casino at 1 South Main Street, to the World Market Center/Pit/Paddock Area. Shuttles run daily Friday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The city of Las Vegas parking lot under the I-515/U.S. Highway 93/95 freeway, between Sixth Street and Fourth Street and north of City Hall, is available for public parking Saturday and Sunday, and is within walking distance of the race route. No transit service is provided at this location.

From the Las Vegas Strip:

Citizens Area Transit double-decker Deuce service is available. Please see the Regional Transportation Commission’s Web site at www.rtcsnv.com for bus routes and schedules.

With the temporary closures of some downtown roadways, many Citizen Area Transit bus stops for routes 105, 106, 108, 207 and the Deuce will be temporarily closed until after the race, when the barricades are moved.
