LAS VEGAS (Feb. 13, 2007) – Excellent volunteer opportunities are available for people interested in being part of the inaugural Vegas Grand Prix, coming to the streets of downtown Las Vegas on April 6-8, 2007.
Volunteers will enjoy a “behind-the-scenes” perspective in assisting with the presentation of this new and unique event. A variety of activities are planned around the first Champ Car auto race of the 2007 season, including major rock concerts, a charity gala, celebrity poker tournament, giant Easter egg hunt and much more, creating a festival of speed and entertainment. Each volunteer will receive many benefits, such as uniform shirts and cap, discounted tickets for friends and family, lunch and snacks each day, as well as a volunteer appreciation party.
“Participation in this kind of an event creates memories that will last a lifetime and provides the opportunity to establish long-term friendships with people from all over the nation,” said Rena Shanaman, VGP special consultant for volunteers who has been in the business for 26 years. She said the selection of the volunteer management team will begin in February, while a series of orientation meetings for volunteers are scheduled to start in mid-March. An estimated 500 volunteers are needed for the first running of the Vegas Grand Prix.
Volunteers must be 18 years of age by April 6, 2007 and commit to working at least 25 total hours over the three-day event, including Friday, Saturday and Easter Sunday. Volunteers are needed in such areas as: credentials, expo/festival, guest services (information), hospitality, hotel ambassadors, office services, pass control, pedestrian flow, track services, ushers and the volunteer pool.
For further volunteer information, call Bahr Rapaport at 702-944-8661, Ext. 300. For volunteer applications, to purchase tickets or for event information, visit www.vegasgrandprix.com.
